On 19th of September 2025, the official launch event for a new healthcare project, funded by the G-BA Innovation Fund, took place in Berlin at the joint representation of the states of Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania to the federal government. The project is called “TENEAM” (Tele Neurological Outpatient Care in Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania).
Dr. Christiana Franke and Prof. Heinrich Audebert, both from the Department of Neurology at the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, represented the project management team at the opening ceremony. Representatives from the consortium of participating institutions were also present, including those from the University Hospital of Greifswald and the Medical University of Lausitz – Carl Thiem in Cottbus. Also present were medical specialists, members of the medical self-administration and representatives from health insurance companies. Among the guests was Ms. Britta Müller, the Brandenburg Minister for Health.
Ms. Müller said: “The TENEAM project clearly demonstrates the huge impact that digitalisation can have on our healthcare system. Many neurological diseases become more prevalent with age, and at the same time, finding successors for practices in sparsely populated areas is becoming increasingly difficult. This is exactly where TENEAM comes in. By facilitating communication between general practitioners and specialist doctors, it will significantly improve neurological care in Brandenburg in the future. General practitioners will be able to identify neurological symptoms at an early stage, offer an initial teleneurological examination directly in their practice, and then work closely with specialist colleagues and university hospitals to support patients. This eliminates care bottlenecks in rural regions efficiently, reliably, and with a high level of expertise. This is what the medicine of the future looks like!”
TENEAM is a particular challenge for our company because it requires the deployment of high engineering standards and timely implementation. We are pleased to provide technical support for the project, which we also consider to be an example of the future local, rapid specialist medical care.
