The 8th Brandenburg Palliative Care Congress took place in Potsdam on the 21th of June 2024 under the motto “Together into the Future”. The congress offered a wide range of symposia on current topics and enabled a lively exchange of knowledge between palliative and hospice care professionals.
MEYTEC was represented among the exhibitors with a stand and presented the first results from the TANNE project. The project, which is funded by the Innovation Fund of the Federal Joint Committee (GBA), focuses on improving of the medical (after)care through telemedicine cooperation networks between inpatient and outpatient facilities. As part of the TANNE project, a telemedical connection between hospices and specialised outpatient palliative care (SAPV) teams and the neuropalliative telemedicine experts from the hospital in Agatharied was realised.
Interested conference participants were able to see for themselves the functionality of the telemedicine set for SAPV/hospice teams. MEYTEC carried out an audiovisual test connection to the expert centre for neuropalliative issues in Agatharied. Dr. med. Christiane Weck, senior physician in neurology and palliative care at the Agatharied Hospital and TANNE project manager, answered the participants’ questions via live tele-bridge to Bavaria (see picture at the top).
During the project, numerous palliative patients from all over Bavaria have already benefited from the teleconsultation care from Agatharied. The technical implementation and support for the telemedicine systems within the project were carried out by the consortium partner MEYTEC GmbH Medizinsysteme.
The 8th Brandenburg Palliative Care Congress not only highlighted the current developments in the palliative care, but also the potential of telemedicine within the palliative care. MEYTEC’s presentation of the TANNE project emphasised the importance of innovative solutions for improving the care of palliative patients and gave conference participants some insights into the utilization of such technologies/concepts in daily practice.
