A “Mobile Stroke Unit” (MSU) is a specially equipped ambulance in which patients with suspected ischemic stroke can be treated on site. A data analysis confirmed that the use of MSU is associated with significantly less consequential damage for affected patients. However, there was no effect on mortality. According to an economic perspective, the use of MSU leads to more quality-corrected life years (QALY), the additional costs per QALY are within the internationally accepted framework and thus justifiable. Therefore, the DGN believes that MSU should be part of the standard care in the future.
